Happy Monday evening!
Ok, so it’s been way too long since I posted last. Thank you to the boonies for allowing no phone or internet service. So…I guess you’re all wondering where I actually wound up this past weekend?
Yep, we headed to Burlington, VT! I was excited for two things: cheese and beer. Best type of trip ever…focused on food!
I was so excited once we got there, because it reminded me so much of Ithaca, NY, where I went to school. (Shout out to all you IC kids!) Big hills, a beautiful lake and filled with college kids. It was COLD. I just blasted the heat on my face in the car. Someone doesn’t like as much heat as I do.
On the way, I munched on a pb bagel-thin-wich. Yum!
CHEEESEE!!!!!! I think I literally jumped out of the car. We got to Cabot and my overactive bladder made us miss the tour that was just leaving. Oops. There was a tour starting 20 minutes later, so we headed over to get our tickets, which were in the form of bracelets:
A cheese sample room!? Sign. me. up.

I think I sampled everything 3-4 times. A few sweet, little ladies kept bringing out fresh bowls of cheese. I was in heaven. I tried some I loved, like this little one I nabbed:
There were a few (tikka masala, wasabi) that were yucko. But I devoured most of the other ones!
I ate a zillion cheese spread cracker sandwiches, and a few oyster crackers speared with Cabot butter because it’s so delish and my momma turned me on to it.
After Chris had to drag me away from the cheese room, it was time for the tour!
I stopped for a little fun on the way:

The tour was short, but we got some cool behind the scenes action:

Yep, that’s an entire block o’ cheese!

Second stop:
Magic Hat Brewing Company! The decor was funky and eclectic inside. We were able to go to the bar and get whatever samples we wanted.

Chris grabbed a growler before the tour started:
I grabbed one for the road and we hit the tour!

I loved this tour because it wasn’t a huge brewery and it really stands out from other breweries. Rumor has it they’re bringing back a vanilla bean porter in the winter! Can’t wait for that!
Wrap up part two is up next!

I went to the Cabot cheese factory and Ben and Jerry’s last summer when we took a vacation to Vermont. I loved both places!!
The cheese you bought…it’s just da best!
