An ode to my favorite restaurant

Boston is fillllledddd with delicious places to dine. I’ve been to quite a few, but no place stands up to Tasca. This cozy tapas eatery is in Brighton, and I used to live one street down from it. If I knew about it earlier there’s a good chance I’d be indulging in their dishes a couple times a week. My waistline thanks me that I moved farther away from it.

My roommate, Allie, and I became obsessed with this place last year. Chris and I went there for a fancy little date last night and I will tell you the reasons why:

1. The sangria. It couldn’t be fruitier, or more flavorful. Beware, a pitcher goes down very easily.

2. My favorite dishes there have cheese in them. Think goat cheese fritters, melty brie with crostini and chutney and leek and smoked manchego quiche. We all know I love cheese.

3. Sizzling garlic shrimp & fried potatoes with garlic aioli.

4. Pastel vasco. This is hands down, my favorite dessert ever. Like Julie, one of my favorite desserts comes from a restaurant! It’s an Oreo cookie base, topped with milk toffee sauce, bananas and fresh whipped cream. Yum! I made Chris give me 3/4′s of it. What a guy!

The prices here are NOT bad at all. Plus, there’s usually a bunch of deals on places like LivingSocial, Buywithme and Groupon. That’s how we nabbed this meal!

The lighting is pretty low in this place, so I didn’t want to be flashing my camera light constantly and annoying people. But I did take a pic of my fave:

Love love love

P.S. This inspired me to start a Restaurants page on here! Check it out in a couple of days!

P.P.S. Has anyone heard of a pastel vasco made the way Tasca makes it? I don’t think it’s a traditional recipe…thoughts?

I spent a couple of years Googling Pastel Vasco hoping something would come up for recipes. But in my searching I found Banoffee pie, it’s a traditional British dessert that I think inspired Tasca’s take on it.
